Eine tolle Idee ein solches Buch zu verfassen. Jedoch setzt es wie ich finde schon einiges an Vorkenntnissen vorraus.Viele Begriffe die nicht, oder nur unzureichend erklärt werden. Was ist Laudes? Wann betet man was? Wann macht man ein Kreuzzeichen? Singt man etwas, oder betet es normal? Wenn man etwas singen soll, wie? Nicht jeder ist des Notenslesens mächtig.Was ist ein Antiphon, ein/e Oration?Da es ein Buch für Jugendliche ist, sollte VIEL mehr erklärt werden.Jedoch bei aller Kritik, bzw. allen Verbesserungsvorschlägen ist es dennoch ein Empfehlung wenn man bereit ist, die fehlenden Informationen selbst zu besorgen. Leider ist es wie oft im religiösen, googlet man, findet man am Ende mehr Fragen, als Antworten.Bei dem Format darf man sich nicht täuschen, auf dem Bild sieht es wie ein gewöhnliches Hardcover Buch aus, ist es jedoch nicht. Es ist ein sehr dünnes (mit sehr dünnen Seiten) Buch mit Gummiband (Ähnlich der NGÜ).Toll sind Anleitungen wie die Beichte anläuft, das den Liedern Akkorde abgebildet sind zum nachspielen. Wie man den Rosenkranz betet. Das ganze Buch ist so eine Art, Anbetungs- ErsteHilfe Koffer für immer dabei :)Es gibt einiges zu verbessern, dennoch bereue ich den Kauf nicht.

Es handelt sich um ein handliches, leichtes Buch, 355 Seiten, Breite 11,5 cm, Länge 18,5 cm, Höhe 1,5 cm. Fester Einbabd mit dünnen Seiten, wie man sie aus der Bibel kennt. Es ist sehr schön gestaltet mit den Zeichnungen/Erläuterungen. Es gibt noch einen schönen Gebetsanhang, ausgewählte Bibelstellen und die Vorbereitung zur Beichte. Geistliche Lieder sind ebenfalls drin. Das Stundengebet für die 4 Wochen ist sehr schön gegliedert - man findet sich also super zurecht. Verwendet werden 65 Psalme, die man in einer Inhaltsangabe schnell finden kann. Eine Vertiefung der 10 Gebote ist auch dabei. Ebenso ein Foto, auf dem Papst Franziskus das "Oremus" übergeben wird.. Ich werde es jedenfalls immer wieder gerne zum Beten nutzen. Ganz klare Kaufempfehlung!!

Let me begin by stating that this is NOT a biography of TE Lawrence (of Arabia). Faulkner uses Lawrence as a metaphor hook to both market the book and as a euphemism for the British military campaign on the Eastern front in the Middle East during WW 1. Lawrence is used as a symbol of the imperialism of the war. The book mostly details the actual battles fought between the Ottoman Empire (and Germany) and the British (using mostly Australian and Indian troops) with a minor role played by the French. It is excellent at giving a ground view via individual soldiers’ comments and observations of conditions. I did appreciate that Faulkner like others believes Lawrence’s memoir (Seven Pillars of Wisdom) to be true and supported by historical and archaeological facts (some early biographers have attacked Lawrence saying he made many things up). I found the book quite interesting and enjoyable to read. Since I am not usually drawn to military books that outline battles, fronts, attacks and retreats I was surprised how fascinating I found Faulkner’s book. He covers first in a very perceptive way the British defeat at Gallipoli and its loss of the British Mesopotamia Expeditionary Force (Indian troops) south of Baghdad (where Lawrence was called upon by London to try and bribe an Ottoman commander into letting the captured British Army escape.) Without adding extensive length to this review I will leave it to future readers to discover the step by step, battle by battle, eastern front campaign. Highlights being the battles fought to save the Suez Canal, the capture of Palestine and Jerusalem and the final big push in to Damascus all under the command of General Edmund Allenby who focused on the Eastern half of the campaign along the sea while his subordinate T E Lawrence assisting the Arab revolt fighting a guerrilla campaign in the interior (which mainly focused on the destruction of the hijaz railway). The take away the general reader will have to this book will be how dogged the Ottoman soldier was. They were thought to be pushovers but were nothing of the sort. The battles on the Eastern half of the campaign and even Lawrence's Arabs fought under awful conditions… heat, dust, insects… in addition to much hand to hand combat. The British using mostly Indian troops at the end made great use of Calvary charges, airplanes, and the Arabs rear guard campaign. Towards the end the Arabs tied up almost 2/3's of the Ottoman troops and completely destroyed their railway system. The Ottoman ethnic cleansing genocide of the Armenians also included many middle class and educated Arabs. This Faulkner says this left mostly the Bedouin who were ridged Islamic fundamentalist to fight in the Arab revolt. It was a testimony to Lawrence’s skill, patience and leadership to find ways to unit these un-modern troops. I did find Faulkner’s description of Lawrence to be a bit over the top. No doubt Lawrence probably suffered from post-traumatic disorder (not so diagnosed in WW1) but to say that Lawrence suffered mostly over a quilt complex finding himself torn between British and French imperialism and their broken promises to Arab nationalism is hard to believe. More likely Lawrence was a great intellect, shy, and somewhat a misfit which gave him great empathy to listen and accept the Arabs as they were and not as many perceived them. This mostly is his legacy. For those unfamiliar or have not read a biography of Lawrence I suggest you do so before reading Faulkner’s book. There are several good biographies but the most complete is by Jeremy Wilson who wrote the Authorized Biography in 1989. I just found out this week that Jeremy Wilson died on April 2nd of this week. His will be a great loss. Both he and his wife Nicole have run Castle Hill Press publishing limited edition deluxe editions of Lawrence’s work.(Note: I do realize that Mr. Faulkner is a Marxist historian but I don't think this impacts the books narrative with the exception of some nonsense he writes in his epilogue. Here he criticizes the Arab nationalist for not being more grounded like the Russian "Reds" were in fighting the "white" Russians. However interesting this is just out of context with the rest of the book.)

I found this book to be a slow read as it is so filled with interesting ideas. I’d get a few pages in and Neil would present a new idea or concept or point of view and I would have to go and research that. This is a book worth reading

An excellent study that confirms so much about the myth and legend of Lawrence of Arabia and it also gives voices to the other forces fighting in the desert, be they British, ANZAC, Ottoman, or German.

Ich habe das Buch mit 14 gelesen, dann mit 30 und gemerkt, dass ich jetzt sehr viel mehr verstehe und jetzt im Pensionsalter hat es mich von neuem gefesselt!Es ist grossartig, wie sich diese Kinderbande durchschlägt, was sie alles erleben und durch dick und dünn zusammenhalten. Es gibt auch Erwachsene, die sie verstehen und eine Hilfe sind für sie. Ich finde sehr schön, dass zum Schluss jede Persönlichkeit doch Boden unter den Füssen und ihre vorläufige Lebensaufgabe findet.

Ein Kinderbuchklassiker, den ich nun nochmal lesen wollte.Hier verarbeitet der politische Flüchtling Kurt Held zur Zeit des Nationalsozialismus seine Reiseerlebnisse in Kroatien. Auf Bitten der Kinder im Flüchtlingsheim in der Schweiz, Ihnen Geschichten zu erzählen, entstand diese soziale, leicht anarchistische Geschichte. Ein schönes Beispiel wie aus einer Notlage heraus etwas wichtiges geschaffen werden kann.Ansonsten wäre der Autor Kurt Held für sein restliches Lebenswerk wahrscheinlich schon in Vergessenheit geraten.Wie immer aus dem Fischer-Verlag: gute Qualität und gut erschwinglich.

Das Buch von Kurt Held war in meiner Jugend eines meiner liebsten Bücher. Nun habe ich Enkelinnen und Enkel im Lesealter. Ich habe Die rote Zora vor kurzem noch einmal gelesen, um festzustellen, ob sichdie Geschichte und Kurt Held's Art zu schreiben auch für Kinder von heute noch eignet. Keine Frage!Spannend, gute Identifikationspersonen für grössere, auch lebenserfahrene Schulkinder. Die schriftstellerische Qualität von Kurt Held hält der heutigen Zeit absolut und auf hohem Niveau stand. Die Beschreibungen sind dicht, anschaulich, lassen eine Welt erstehen, welche die Kinder in ihr Leben mitnehmen werden. Dass in der recht feindlichen Welt der Kinder im Buch (im armen kroatischen Dalmatien der 30er Jahre) durch Solidarität von Menschen Geborgenheit entstehen kann, ist eine idealistische Botschaft. Auch heute ist sie es wert - fast mehr als noch vor wenigen Jahrzehnten - an junge Menschen weitergegeben zu werden. Dass ein Jugendbuchautor in den 40er Jahren seine jungen Leser derart deutlich, für heutige Begriffe manchmal vielleicht etwas gar schwarz-weiss, auf soziale Misstände und auf die Ungerechtigkeit der Welt hinweist, sehe ich Kurt Held nach. Er war mit seiner Frau Lisa Tetzner einer der erstem, der jugendlichen Lesern überhaupt zutraute, Probleme aushalten zu können und zu überdenken, in einer schlimmen Zeit, in der man gerade in der Schweiz, Kinder vor allen Informationenen über tatsächliche Elend schützen zu müssen glaubte.

Als ich die "Rote Zora" das erste Mal las, war ich wohl ca. 8 Jahre alt.Jetzt, mit fast 46 habe ich sie wieder gelesen und das Buch ist noch genau so spannend wie damals.Branko steht nach dem Tod seiner Mutter, ohne Geld auf der Straße. Als er auf dem Markt einen heruntergefallenen Fisch aufhebt weil er Hunger hat (Branko-nicht der Fisch)wird er wegen Diebstahl verhaftet. Dir rote Zora befreit ihn aus dem Gefängnis, das erste Abenteuer ist beastanden....Spannend, lustig und auch weise, dieses Buch ist ein Superbuch, ich kann es nur Allen ans Herz legen. Sofort kaufen am besten gleich zwei Exemplare, eins zum Behalten, eins zum Weiterverschenken!

Dieses Buch hat nichts an Spannung und Aktualität eingebüßt und kann Kinder wie Erwachsene begeistern. Ist kein Mainstream, eher anspruchsvolle Kinder- und Jugendliteratur.

Die rote Zora habe ich als Kind geliebt und oft gelesen. Auch als Erwachsene ab und an wieder. Jetzt nach Jahrzehnten nochmals und es ist immer noch so toll wie damals.

Ich habe das Buch schon als Kind gerne gelesen und auch jetzt mit über 30 ist diese Geschichte über Freundschaft, Mut und Abenteuer eines meiner liebsten Bücher.

Tolles Buch über eine Kinderbande in Kroatien. Mein 9 Jähriger liebte es das Buch vorgelesen zu bekommen. Sehr zu empfehlen
